May 03, 2007 (BRW - ABIX via COMTEX) -- J Robins & Sons is one Australian textile clothing and footwear (TCF) firm that is managing to survive competition from overseas. In part, the Sydney-based footwear company has done so by absorbing some of the "Just in Time" manufacturing practices made famous by Toyota and other Japanese car makers. As a result, it was able to reduce the time between the start of making a shoe and when it is ready to place in its box from as much as 20 days to just two hours. It has also expanded into customisation.
