May 03, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Singapore-based Tiger Airways has announced that its Australian subsidiary will be based in Melbourne. Meanwhile, Tiger CEO Tony Davis says the new airline will offer a better deal than the $A3 fares that are being promoted by budget rival Jetstar. The Qantas offshoot will make some 30,000 airfares available at the special price. Alan Joyce, the CEO of Jetstar, says the limited offer is not related to Tiger's imminent Australian launch, adding that the airline will continue to provide low-cost airfares.
