Rural Press buys into Wagga Wagga.

May 03, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian-listed Rural Press will pay $A64.5m for the Riverina Media Group. The acquisition will be funded via the media company's existing debt facilities. A spokesman for Fairfax Media says the deal will have no impact on the pending merger between Fairfax and Rural Press. Riverina's flagship publication is the "The Daily Advertiser" in the New South Wales town of Wagga Wagga. It also publishes a free newspaper aimed at the seniors market.
