Gartner closes local consultancy arm.

May 16, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Several consultants at IT sector firm Gartner are believed to have been given notice. This follows a decision to drop its IT consulting operations in Australia and Hong Kong. The group will try to reassign
other staff internally, Gartner's global consulting group president Bob Patten told staff in an email on 14 May 2007. Gartner's Australian operations made a profit of $A8.7m in calendar 2006. Gartner says it wants to concentrate its resources in fewer areas with the potential for greater growth.
