May 16, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Orica has been chasing mining resources and neglecting its traditional divisions of chemicals and paints. However its 15 May 2007 bid for structural steel group DSI shows foresight by investing in an underground mine-related industry as open-cut mines begin to decline. The strategic expansion into underground mining strengthens the portfolio, which already accounts for over 60 of Orica's earnings.
