Shoppers become loyal village people.
Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2007
Byline: Tina Perinotto
May 21, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Research by Parmalat indicates that the village shopping centre has regained popularity among Australians. Up to 80 per cent of Australians shop at least once a week in their "village", and local shopping centres are thought to be influencing locational choices for housing. According to Monash University's Michael Morrison, individuals may fulfil their cravings for community connections by visiting nearby, family-run shops. However, it is thought that consumers also generally like to be located near large shopping centres, which provide choice and convenience.
