Serious shortage of hi-tech defence, mining workers.

May 22, 2007 (The Advertiser - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Industry groups say South Australia is particularly vulnerable to the skills shortage. The state depends heavily on mining and defence contracts for which recruitment of high-technology workers is difficult. This could delay some projects and impact South Australian productivity rates, according to the Australian Information Industry Association. The association says the state has 1,200 ICT businesses employing 19,000 people.
