May 15, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian research has revealed that tests for peanut allergies may be returning inaccurate results. A study of 84 children found that a skin-prick test that resulted in positive diagnoses of allergies was flawed. A third of the children had no discernible negative reaction when they were fed peanuts under hospital supervision. Researchers believe that doctors are inaccurately assessing skin-prick results, leading to an over-diagnosis of the condition.
