May 15, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Victor Ma has resigned as student representative of the Macquarie University council as well as president of the Students' Council. He did so after a university investigation into the management of student funds controlled by Ma. The university says Ma transferred $A118,000 from the Students at Macquarie students' union and $A115,000 from the Venues at Macquarie catering body to a lawyer's trust account. The matters were referred to police by the university. The university council dismissed Ma as union president, but he was subsequently re-elected to the council. Ma said he transferred the money to fund litigation against the university in order to maintain the independence...
