Business Services Industry
Dear PM: Telstra's chasing the wrong (old) technology.
Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2007

May 15, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Telstra's full-page ads in Fairfax newspapers on 15 May 2007 are an indication that things are not going well for the telco. Part of the argument in the Australian broadband network debate is what the service will cost the consumer. Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband services are the preferred European solution, but the cost relies on access to ducts which, in Australia, are Telstra's major asset and key advantage. In an election year, the Australian Government should choose the best option for future growth, which is FTTH.
