May 15, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- US economic growth is predicted to slow but inflation remains a concern. A survey of 53 economic forecasters by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia found that the US economy was expected to grow by 2.1 per cent in 2007, a fall from a previous prediction of 2.8 per cent. The economy only expanded at an annual rate of 1.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2007. Economic growth is expected to rise to 2.9 per cent in 2008. However, inflation is expected to remain above the preferred level of the Federal Reserve Board.
