May 27, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Some members of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia) have objected to the proposed sale of Finsia Education. In April 2007, US-based Kaplan agreed to pay $A36m for Finsia's education division. Principal Global Investors director Giles Gunesekera says his company is against the proposed sale due to the lack of adequate due diligence on the part of Finsia. Michael Shepherd, the president of Finsia, has justified the decision to turn down a higher offer from Fairfax Media, saying money was not the primary consideration.
