Hotline plan cools Sino-US tension.

Jun 03, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Tensions generated by a Pentagon report that queried the motivation behind China's military build-up have been diffused by a promise to talk. On 2 June 2007, the Chinese and US defence ministries agreed to establish a direct telephone link on military matters. The US Secretary of Defence, Robert Gates, said that transparency and dialogue builds trust and understanding.
