CVC turns to banks to stop its tobacco bid going up in smoke.

Jun 03, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- CVC Capital Partners could fund a bid for Franco-Spanish tobacco company, Altadis, with banks. CVC and French private equity firm, PAI, had mounted a Stg12.8 billion ($A30.4 billion) joint bid for Altadis. However, PAI has withdrawn from the bid. CVC could gain bridge equity from some of the banks that are providing the financing.
