Kathmandu focuses on local market - for now.
Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2007
Jun 03, 2007 (Inside Retailing - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Quadrant and Goldman Sachs JB Were are keen for New Zealand-based outdoor clothing and equipment firm Kathmandu to expand. The firms purchased Kathmandu from founder Jan Cameron in 2006. Kathmandu currently has 29 stores in Australia, 23 in New Zealand and four in the UK, and is aiming to open new stores in all three, including five more in New Zealand by the end of 2007. Quadrant and Goldman Sachs JB Were are clearly confident about the future of the outdoor retail sector at a time when other companies are exiting the sector.
