Competition heats up on freight routes.

Jun 05, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian air Express (AaE) acting CEO, Wayne Dunne, has responded to claims his operation is facing increased competition. In early June 2007, Toll Holdings MD, Paul Little, announced that Toll's work with AaE had ceased and that Toll was preparing to launch a new freight joint venture with Virgin Blue Airlines. However, Dunne has denied his operation, a joint venture between Qantas Airways and Australia Post, is under pressure, and has rejected the claims Toll has ceased using AaE. He has also rejected suggestions that the recent resignation of CFO Iona Macpherson and AaE's failure to find a new permanent CEO to replace Allen Buckley are signs of problems at AaE.
