Court slams mortgage broker.

Jun 06, 2007 (Independent Financial Adviser - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) has succeeded in gaining court orders against the GMS Group. ASIC claims the mortgage broker, which trades as Sample & Partners, misled consumers by stating that changing from a standard loan to one of its loans would save them money, when this was not the case. The Federal Court heard that consultants from Sample & Partners advised clients to refinance their loans with lenders on a panel, but did not reveal that Matthew Sample, the MD of Sample & Partners, had an interest in one of these lenders.
