Jun 06, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Sukhinder Singh Cassidy is Asia-Pacific and Latin American operations vice-president for US-based Google. The web search engine services group is the market leader in the internet search segment in Australia, which is worth $A250m. It now wants to expand into the area of brand products advertising, which would put it into direct competition with traditional mass media. One growth area is digital video. Singh Cassidy says initially however the focus will be on improved online services, for example linking ads to mapping software. Google has also struck a deal with newspaper publishing company Fairfax for ads placed on the latter's web pages.
