Jun 11, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review Boss - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Alan Noble, the engineering director at US web search firm Google, says ideas have to be tested as soon as possible. New ideas that have not been tested are quickly criticised and dismissed as unrealistic. The best antidote for such behaviour is to put the idea into practice as soon as possible. Google has instituted a 20 per cent time rule, which allows engineers to work on their pet project while being at work. Google maintains a database of hundreds of ideas that engineers can look at.
