Storm bill $270m and rising: ICA.

Jun 14, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) says the losses from recent severe storms in New South Wales have surpassed $A270 million. This estimate is expected to increase further as new claims are lodged. According to the ICA, the number of insurance losses from the unusual weather has risen to more than 26,000. Suncorp alone has received approximately 13,500 claims. ICA CEO Kerrie Kelly says insurers are working closely with the State Government and emergency services to help facilitate the recovery process.
