Jun 17, 2007 (The West Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A Federal Court of Australia writ has been lodged by Western Australian (WA) construction sector identity Len Buckeridge. His BGC group had received a bill for $A2.1m form electricity utility Alinta, with which BGC struck a supply deal in 2003 when the full contestability of the power market was introduced in WA. BGC sought to save over $A700,000 a year in electricity costs, but Alinta argues the client has not complied with minimum consumption targets of 680,000 gigawatt hours in 2005 and 2006. BGC says this figure is completely unrealistic, and it was looking at only buying 55.3 gigawatt hours.
