Jun 19, 2007 (The West Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Bob Browning is the new CEO for the US division of Western Australian shipbuilding group Austal. Two weeks prior to his departure for the US in early July 2007, he has commented for the first time on his falling-out with fellow directors at energy group Alinta, of which he used to be CEO. Browning and then chair John Poynton had engineered a management buy-out proposal also involving investment bank Macquarie Bank that caused personal attacks on the pair and was ultimately rejected by the rest of the company's board. Browning says he feels history will vindicate his decision, which had been based on wanting to counter the threat of private equity raiders.
