Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2007

Byline: Philip Baker

Jun 19, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian bond fund managers returned an average 1.4 per cent in the March 2007 quarter. This was the same as the benchmark UBS Warburg Composite Index. Cash returned 1.6 per cent during the same period. Traders were confused about possible changes to interest rates, according to State Street Global Advisors. Yields for 10-year government bonds fluctuated between 5.61 and 5.9 per cent but have since pushed through 6.0 per cent. Bonds are being ignored as other asset classes perform strongly.
