Jun 20, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian sharemarket posted solid gains on 20 June 2007, with the S&P/ASX 200 rising 24.9 points to close at a new high of 6,396.9. The All Ordinaries Index finished 27.6 points higher at 6,421.1. However, resources stocks were sold down after a fall in base metal prices, with Rio Tinto easing $A0.66 to $A100.49 and BHP Billiton losing $A0.37 to close at $A34.55. Meanwhile, Wesfarmers gained $A1.18 to finish at a new high of $A44.28 and Macquarie Bank was up $A1.59 at $A92.59.
