Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2007

Jun 20, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian sharemarket is set to end the 2006-07 financial year with another stellar performance. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 has gained 26.1 per cent in 2006-07, and closed at another new high of 6,396.9 on 20 June 2007. This compares with a level of around 5,000 early in the financial year. Martin Duncan of JP Morgan says a number of factors support a continuation of the bull run, including strong earnings growth, bullish mergers and acquisitions activity and high commodity prices. However, he notes that inflationary pressures may become a concern late in 2007.
