Alinta's under-par Browning gave it his best shot.

Jun 20, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The former CEO of Alinta, Bob Browning, has few regrets about his role in a failed takeover bid for the Perth-based energy group. The management buyout attempt was marred by concerns about a potential conflict of interests, while Browning eventually departed from Alinta. Browning says he would have liked to be able to leave Alinta on a "more positive note", but points out that the group's shareholders enjoyed a 700 per cent return during his time at Alinta. Browning will now return to the US, where he will become the CEO of the US division of Australian-listed shipbuilder Austal.
