Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2007
Byline: Danny John
Jun 21, 2007 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- An increasing number of energy companies are up for sale in the US, resulting in some interesting rivalry among Australian investment banks. Macquarie Bank and Babcock & Brown (B&B) are expected to compete aggressively against each other for natural gas power plants and electricity distribution networks. Macquarie is likely to ramp up its acquisitions through a company it purchased less than two years ago, Macquarie Cook Energy. B&B has already tried the US energy market with its $A3 billion bid for Northwestern.
