UNSW cancer unit revisits Singapore debt format.
Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2007
Byline: Rachel Lebihan
Jun 24, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The University of New South Wales (UNSW) has continued in the tradition which contributed to the demise of UNSW Asia. Due to announce a cancer research centre on 25 June 2007 - which has $A10 million in funding from Westfield's executive chair, Frank Lowy - it requires borrowing of more than $A50 million. This is considered dubious since UNSW Asia failed, in part, due to its heavy reliance on loans. However, Professor Fred Hilmer, the UNSW vice-chancellor, has pointed to the Children's Cancer Institute Australia as having a strong medical research platform.
