Price pressure on car, home insurance.
Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2007
Byline: Eric Johnston
Jun 27, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- An ABN Amro study has revealed that Australian consumers can look forward to cheaper car and home insurance. A price war between market leaders Suncorp and Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has resulted in premium drops of up to 11 per cent in some cases. Suncorp's acquisition of Promina has given it a large presence in the insurance market, however the two-year integration process may result in migration of some customers to rival IAG. Suncorp has a 24 per cent share of the general insurance market, compared with IAG's 23 per cent.
