Jun 28, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian sharemarket posted solid gains on 28 June 2007, with the S&P/ASX 200 rising 81.4 points to close at 6,265.6 The broader All Ordinaries Index finished 80.8 points higher at 6,297.4. A rise in the price of copper and crude oil bolstered the resources sector, with Rio Tinto gaining $A2.61 to close at $A98.36 and BHP Billiton up $A0.69 at $34.89, while Woodside Petroleum rose $A1.35 to $A45.75. Incitec Pivot rallied $A1.77 to a new high of $A76.28 and Wesfarmers was $A1.32 higher at $A44.80.
