Jul 02, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Microsoft is expected to release a final version of its new multimedia web browser plug-in before the end of July 2007. The Silverlight software will challenge Adobe's Flash product, used on popular internet video sites such as YouTube. Several Australian companies have been trialling Silverlight and say it offers significant improvements in the provision and management of full-screen streaming video. However, it is interwoven with other Microsoft software and may have disadvantages on the Mac OS or Linux platforms.
