Jul 02, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The turnaround of Australian retailer, Coles Group, will require strong management and difficult decisions. Ross Honeywill, of the Centre for Customer Strategy, says Wesfarmers will have to consider a partnership with a successful international retailer. A turnaround would take between three to five years. Frank Zumbo, of the University of New South Wales, says Wesfarmers will want to reduce debt and will probably sell underperforming parts of the Coles business. An alternative would be to sell better-performing businesses for which there would be a ready buyer.
