Jul 03, 2007 (BRW - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Professor Martin Green is considered a rarity among Australian scientists involved in developing new technology. Whereas it is considered the norm that scientists do not get involved in the commercialisation of their discoveries, Green, the head of University of New South Wales' photovoltaics centre of excellence, has been involved in three successful commercialisation efforts during his 30 years at the university. The main thrust behind solar power research is focused on reducing the cost of producing electricity from solar power to the point where it is equivalent to the cost of producing electricity from fossil fuels.
