Survey finds big rewards for VCs.

Jul 03, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Overall, University of Queensland vice-chancellor, John Hay, has the largest annual salary package of all Australian university chiefs. Hay's package for 2006 was believed to be worth more than $A1.04 million. However, a payout is thought to have boosted the earnings of one senior executive at La Trobe University to $A1.4 million. According to the national survey of vice-chancellor remuneration, conducted by "HES", Steven Schwartz of Macquarie University earned $A600,000 in 2006, with the potential for an additional $A100,000 bonus, while Central Queensland University's John Rickard earned about $A675,000.
