Jul 04, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australia has the fourth-biggest funds management industry in the world. Yet only three per cent of this industry's revenue comes from foreigners wanting Australian firms to manage their money. Global funds face numerous challenges meeting all of the regulatory and taxation requirements of different countries. The Australian Government is trying to simplify its own laws to prevent situations where Australian fund managers and international clients are forced to pay tax on the same revenues several times. Small countries like Luxembourg and Ireland, having addressed these issues, host huge global funds.
