EU seeks answers in Hollywood disc war.

Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2007

Jul 05, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Some Hollywood studios have chosen to use the new Blue-ray DVD format, while Universal Studios has released its DVDs in the rival HD DVD format. The European Commission has written to the Hollywood studios, asking for information about why they chose the format they did. The EU is not accusing the studios of breaking antitrust laws. Consumers have stayed away from this battle. They do not want to be stuck with the losing technology. Blu-ray and HD DVD discs each need their own players and do not work with existing DVD players.
