Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2007

Jul 06, 2007 (Money Management - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has launched a brochure which is designed to warn investors about fraudulent investment schemes. The brochure, titled "Don't Take the Bait", has been endorsed by the Financial Planning Association. The ATO stresses the importance of gaining independent advice before investing. Investments that are marketed by such phrases as "There are no risks; we guarantee returns" and "You don't need credit checks or asset checks, we'll lend you the money" should be treated with suspicion.
