Jul 08, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Robin Young, of Blackrock Investment Management, says Australian oil companies are benefiting from demand for "lighter, sweeter crudes". The oil has been attracting large premiums to the US West Texas Intermediate price, which is the global benchmark. There is a significant and growing reliance on natural gas among leading Australian-listed petroleum producers, such as Origin Energy, Santos and Woodside Petroleum. Oil Search is the preferred stock for JP Morgan, due to the increased likelihood of a LNG project in Papua New Guinea proceeding.
