Gamesmanship: Sony cuts PlayStation price.
Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2007
Jul 09, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Some 1.4 million of the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) games consoles were sold in the US between November 2006 and May 2007. In contrast, Nintendo sold about 2.8 million of its rival Wii games consoles during this time. Sony is poised to reduce the price of the PS3 by $US100 ($A117) in a bid to boost sales. However, Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter notes that even at the likely new price of $US499 the PS3 remains more expensive than the Wii or the Xbox 360 from Microsoft. He expects Microsoft to cut the Xbox 360's price in response. Originally published in the "Los Angeles Times".
