Jul 10, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Government continues to be strongly criticised over its education policy as concerns grow about the nation's skills crisis. Monash University demographer Bob Birrell argues that government policies have capped domestic participation in higher education just when the booming economy needs skilled workers. The number of Australian students studying science subjects, for instance, is lower in 2007 than it was 18 years earlier.
