Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2007

Jul 10, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In May 2007 Australia's Inspector-General of Taxation, David Vos, completed his investigation into the handling of alleged tax fraud from the 1990s. Wealthy investors avoided almost $A2bn in tax through syndicates claiming deductions for investing in research and development. The Australian Taxation Office began pursuing many of these cases after a 1993 recommendation from the Australian National Audit Office. Many of the cases remain unresolved as the Federal Government prepares to release Vos's report sometime in mid-2007.
