Jul 10, 2007 (The West Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian retailer Woolworths has indicated it will provide very strong competition to the new owner of Coles Group. Woolworths has reported sales growth of 9.6 for the final quarter of 2006-07, increasing sales for the full year by 12.6 to $A42.3bn. Woolworths CEO, Michael Luscombe, denied that the company had timed the sales result and a profit upgrade to place pressure on Wesfarmers' bid for Coles.
