Jul 16, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The spheres of both politics and business in Australia have become noticeably quieter in mid-July 2007. The timing of school holidays in most Australian states combined with increased discretionary incomes and good snowfalls in the ski resort regions mean that many executives and politicians are currently on vacation. This is particularly so in Canberra, where federal parliament is in its winter recess. Australian Taxation Office head Michael D'Ascenzo recently went on holiday as well. A planned trip to Bali however by Western Australian Premier Alan Carpenter was called off due to terrorism concerns.
