[1315] ATO SMSF compliance focus for 2007-08.

Jul 16, 2007 (Weekly Tax Bulletin - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Ian Read, Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Superannuation, has provided an overview of the Tax Office Compliance Program 2006A-07. He said in his recent speech to accountants that the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) intends to expand the compliance coverage of self-managed superannuation funds to 10,000 funds. The ATO will focus on the following issues: emerging risks; funds that have not chosen to be regulated; the normal regulatory issues; fund income tax and auditor contravention report cases; early access; and super co-contribution.
