Jul 16, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) is moving into the Australian alcoholic beverages market. The beverages company is spending $A450 million to try to gain a share of the sector. It wants to become a third player in the market, which is dominated by a few large companies. CCA plans to achieve its aim through its Pacific Beverages joint venture. However, wholesalers have objected strongly to its plan to deal directly with independent retailers. As well, its use of one sales force to sell 87 brands has upset some of the owners of those brands.
