Dec 08, 2008 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Speculation about a takeover bid lifted the share price of Santos by nine per cent on 8 December 2008. It was reported that China National Petroleum Corporation is seeking a partner for a bid for the Australian oil and gas company. The South Australian Government removed its shareholding cap on Santos on 29 November.
