Jan 22, 2009 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Government measures have failed to stabilise the banking systems of the UK, Europe and the US. In mid-January 2009, the UK Government announced a second bail-out package. Some commentators believe that it is inevitable that some large institutions, and possibly the whole financial system, will be nationalised. Rising unemployment is expected to increase pressure on the banking sector.
