Apr 30, 2009 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- On 30 April 2009, the High Court of Australia issued a ruling pertaining to "advertorial" content. The case arose from litigation brought by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission against the Seven Network for misleading segments shown on the TV station's "Today Tonight" current affairs program. Seven had argued the program was protected by the "publisher's defence", but the High Court found that media organisations are liable if they broadcast content that misleads consumers.
