Jun 18, 2009 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- On 20 June 2009, Queensland's synod of 400 Anglican clergymen will vote on a motion to abandon a time-limit defence. The defence prevents the victims of child sexual abuse from initiating legal action once they have turned 21 years of age. A number of Australian churches and schools have claimed they adopted the time-limit defence at the behest of their insurers. Australian Anglican leader, Brisbane Archbishop Phillip Aspinall, will oppose the motion to abandon the time-limit defence.
