Jun 23, 2009 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- New data from the ASX highlight the economic downturn's impact on stock ownership levels. The figures show that some 12 per cent of Australian investors have opted to sell their share portfolios. Just 41 per cent of people over the age of 18 now own shares, compared with 55 per cent in 2004. However, the ASX claims that many investors who have exited the market plan to reinvest in shares at the right time.
